Compute Across Distributed Resources with Globus
- Online
Growing data volumes, new computing paradigms, and increasing hardware heterogeneity are driving the need to distribute computational tasks across a continuum of computing resources. The Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) paradigm pioneered by cloud providers offers a potential solution and the Globus Compute service brings this capability to researchers in order to take care of complex infrastructure management tasks such as figuring out credentials and different authentication mechanisms, or configuring and managing batch jobs and schedulers.
In this session we will provide an overview of Globus Compute and review common use cases for the service. We will also demonstrate how it can be used for interactive computing, e.g., via Jupyter notebooks, as well as “fire-and-forget” high throughput computing workloads on ACCESS or other remote compute resources.
